i thought that Julia really liked Dora. But I think that Elena tops her--she is extremely amotive while eatching the show--she responds to thier questions, she dances to the music, she does the actions of the characters and she has increased her vocabulary.
She can now say: maa (map), ba-paa (backpack), Do-a (Dora) in addition to her other words: mama, dada, Ju-a (Julia), uh-oh, dis, dat, mo (more), hi, cat, dog and ah do (all done). She has a small (but growing) number of ASL signs that she uses: more, please, all done. And lately, the cutest part of her sudden communication explosion is her emotive sounds: ooooh (if she finds someting that she thinks is really neat) and uuuughhh (if there is something the matter or she doesnt like something)
Julia has been trying to play interpreter for her sister: "No, mom, Elena doesnt want it. She wants to give it to me." (Yeah, uh huh, how convenient) but for teh most part, we can make out what she wants from the way she expresses herself. Like Julia, I find the whole unfolding of this part of Elena to be fascinating and exciting.
To think that she is starting to talk makes me a bit sad, after all, I can pretend that although she is walking and climbing and feeding herself with utensils rather than her hands, she is still a baby. But once she starts talking? Well she might still be *my* baby but the rest of the world would most definitely see her as growing up.
