Bob-era

Well, just back from the Bob-era get together and while the evening started off slowly, when it picked up, it was a nice time.

I driove canoegirl since we were both going by our lonesome and waiting for people there and it made more sense for me to pick her up than wait for her to take the bus. We immediately ran into Jen and Heather and caught up on the little things that happen in between teh years that you happen not to see people but it never felt awkward or strange, catching up, which was nice. Until the others showed up we filtered through the refreshments--mmmm chicken on a stick--and wandered the various displays, marvelling at just how many people were actually gathered in the 40's era room and wondering where we would all be when, say the 100th anniversary of UAMC rolls around. I'd only be a balmy 67 years old! Practically young!

We watched, a bit mystified and simultaneously freaked out, by the wandering card trick guy and catching up on hugs and laughs and just the niceness of bieng together, humming along to familiar choral tunes on teh loudspeakers and remembering old tour stories and concert horrors. It was a bit odd to be at that point of trasding battle scars and stories but it was great fun and I enjoyed myself immensely.

It was a wonderful kick off to 60th anniversary weekend and I am super excited to see so many more familiar yet distant faces after the concert during Alumni party time!
