Scarecrow Festival

So I stayed up til the wee hours of the night so that I could indulge in a little Halloween madness. For sane people this might involve popping a dark movie into the DVD player and having a bowl of popcorn wihout butter (oooh scary), but for me, madness involves quilt batting and yards and yards of pink material that slowly gets wrestled into the shape of three little pig costumes, complete with ears and quasi-curly tails. Yes, I sewed costumes for my girls and I to wear to the halloween festival we went to with Julia's playschool. The Scarecrow festival is kind of geared for older kids (who else hands a permanent marker to a two year old to play with while decorating pumpkins while in a very dimly lit room with ghosts and bats projected onto the walls?) and Julia, being the suspicious kid that she is, hated almost every moment of it. She thought the people in costume looked creepy, the mascots were out to get her and the games were evil inventions designed to inflict horrible tortures on her poor piggy soul. Needless to say, we left early.

The day was saved by the giant pumpkin display, though, in which she insisted on kissing every one. Just because. You never know which one might turn into Prince Charming, perhaps.
